Reviews Summary

Nahmint Lake offers a beautiful, remote lakeside camping experience with improved facilities like new composting toilets. However, the challenging access road, potential for aggressive rodents, and abundant mosquitoes are significant drawbacks that require careful preparation and the right vehicle. Some visitors found it a great little campsite, while others were deterred by the difficult journey and wildlife issues.

"Terrible campsite. Road is full of cut up blowdown. Very muddy, with millions of mosquitos. Dont bother. UPDATE JUNE2024. Beware of rodents! We were literally attacked by mice. They got into our vehicle and left droppings inside our sleeping bags. This is the worst site I've ever been to. The road in is horrible, and barely passable if you aren't a high clearance 4x4. I guess if you make it up Gracie hill you might think you're OK, but drop into the rec site and you might end up calling Alberni Towing at $500 min. Stay away, there is no fish and there is toilet paper everywhere. Stay away."

"Pretty lake but fairly windy. Steep approach to the campsite, not suitable for motorhomes. Was packed on a Thursday in the middle of May! Couple large groups which were noisy. This really detracted from the experience.

New composting toilets are really nice. 6 drive in sites and 7 walk in sites, 3 that are next to the lake. Fairly dark campground due to the tall trees."

"It's not that bad of a rec site. I enjoyed it. Nice picnic tables and fire pits were there. Has a walk to a nearby waterfall, if I recall correctly. Obviously it's a bit of a trip and not for someone who isn't comfortable driving dirt road for awhile. Coming from Sprout Lake, it's a big climb up and a BIG climb down to Nahmint. It's got some bits of ruts, and nasty rock at times."
