If I could recommend just a single, unique experience in Nanaimo it would have to be a visit to the Dinghy Dock Pub and Restaurant on Protection Island. The ferry leaves from downtown on the hour, takes just a few minutes, and the drinks are delicious. I hear the food is great as well but I arrived after they had closed the kitchen for the night. #explorebc #vancouverisland #nanaimo #protectionisl...

"Beautiful park. Easy loop that have tons of entry and exit points. I started my walk at the ice skating rink, followed the trail and it led me to Buttertubs.

Good place to do bird watching. Lots of birds especially when it's sunny. It is a good idea to bring camera with good lenses or binoculars.

Ideal for stroller too.

I haven't done duck feeding, but I'm thinking of trying or I'll check out first if it is possible.

I saw deer and heron along the trails.

I love how quiet the place is."
