Just realizing how many pieces I have painted all inspired from my regular walks in Linley Valley Cottle Lake park. Seeing them together takes me through the seasons. Watch for these at my upcoming market on June 22nd @pacific_arts_market at Maffeo Sutton Park. I’m off for my walk! Happy Friday, have a great weekend folks 😁

"🌿 A Wild and Wonderful Urban Escape 🌿
Linley Valley Cottle Lake Park is a true hidden gem tucked right into Nanaimo. The newly maintained pathways around the lake are beautiful and make for a lovely short loop. While it’s not fully accessible due to stairs, uneven terrain, and rooted areas, it’s absolutely worth the effort if you’re able to explore it.

The trails are well-shaded, the grass is taller than me in spots, and the variety of flora and wildlife is incredible. One of my favourite moments was spotting a sign for the rough-skinned newt crossing, hands down the cutest sign I’ve ever seen!

This magical little pocket of nature will be featured in my upcoming 6th Little Adventurers book exploring South Nanaimo. Add it to your list if you’re looking for something wild, beautiful, and full of surprises. 🦎🌲💚"

"A few trail options, nice area. The new walkway on the south side of the lake is a nice improvement. Couple areas on the south side that are a little hard it you have mobility issues."

Lenard Ianson

"This is a beautiful park with lots of hidden vistas to find, and enough trails to get you lost in natural beauty for hours. It's also placed in the middle of the city, so it feels quite safe and it's easy to access with many entrances to choose from.
Trails range from well-maintained and flat to rocky ascents/descents. The main trails are predominantly well-shaded all day long, while some trails have large sunny patches.
Unfortunately there isn't a reliable trail map to follow, so you have to pay attention to your path if you're unfamiliar with the park."
