When the weather outside isn't exactly frightful, but very PNW, this is what happens in the studio :) This is done from a #pleinairpainting I did at Maplewood Flats a couple of years back. I never quite finished the plein air (as usual) but doing a studio version was always the intention. #catchingup 12x12" oil on linen #mutedcolors #pnwpainter #pnwlife #oilpaintingnow #oilpainting #landscapepaint...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Maplewood Flats as a hidden gem for nature walks and birdwatching, appreciating its accessible paths and diverse wildlife sightings, including deer and various bird species. Some note limited parking and the need to be aware of potential wildlife like coyotes and bears.

"Really enjoyed this green park pathway, saw some birds, a family of ducks, and even a family of deer. Paths are well marked and you can even search on google so that you don’t get lost. We did get a bit frightened when we thought we heard a bear in the distance due to snapping branches, but luckily we didn’t see one up close. There is a listing of all the wildlife spotted for the month on a board near the picnic area. Parking is somewhat limited, but it was very quiet when we went on a Saturday afternoon.

Note that there is no bicycle, jogging, or dogs in some areas."

"As a local guy, I can honestly say I took buddy the dog here for a walk one morning while Claire was at work and we liked looking at the miniature Shangri-La shacks that were built upon little stilts in the water, we walked down to the log and saw that there was a sign saying that there is black bears in the area so we decided to turn around, but it was nice and foggy, and here are some photos as proof"
