New to town
Hey everyone! My fiancée and I moved to town about a month ago with our 1.5 year old heeler to be closer to her family. We love the idea of small town living, opposed to living in Toronto, but we are also starting to find it’s a very lonely town when you don’t know anyone.…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Northumberland County Forest is praised as a vast and beautiful place for hiking and enjoying nature, with many appreciating its pet-friendly atmosphere and opportunities to see wildlife like deer. However, some visitors note that signage could be improved, and certain trails can be challenging due to deep sand and the presence of poison ivy. The shared use with ATVs is also a point of consideration for some hikers.
"Great forest for a hike! Any of the negative reviews about hiking are obviously from people who are waking the ATV trails thinking they are the hiking ones. Could definitely use better signage but other than that, the real trail crosses ATV trails in spots so be careful, not that's about it. Often see deer in here as well on morning hikes."
Michael Hughes
"This area is covered in poison ivy and some of the trails are so deep in sand that it isn't great hiking. Not to mention the ATVs....
It's a nice forest but there aren't any points of interest or pleasant scenery. The "lookout" at the end of an uphill climb through a thick pile of sand just involves seeing more forest."
Gail Hollingshead
"Why they took out hunting is beyond me. "Increased traffic". Yes from other regions during a pandemic when non essential travel is frowned upon. Maybe address that...
You had responsible hunters who pay taxes in this area. They follow the rules. Please reconsider this.
Could benefit from more signage/ trail maintenance. Some trails look closed but they arnt? Tree's lay over them for months ?
Otherwise a great place."
