What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise Hardwood Ski and Bike for its extensive and well-maintained trail network suitable for all skill levels, as well as its friendly and helpful staff. The scenic views, particularly from the 'Crank'd' trail, are a significant draw. However, some guests express disappointment with the park's restrictive policies regarding electric unicycles (EUCs), contrasting it with the allowance of e-bikes.
"Loved it very very fun they have trails for all levels would recommend if you do crank'd you will get to an amazing view but watch out for rock gardens"
Elliot Anderson
"After many years, and much life in between, it was a joy to return to Hardwood Hills. The people working there are simply outstanding. The trail network was familiar-yet-not-familiar to me because it has been expanded so much. The trails are moderate enough to be enjoyable but still with some reasonably challenging spots. Thank you for a great afternoon! I'll be back soon.
Footnote: it was also nice to see no e-bikes ruining the trails with their bad behaviour. Thanks for this too."

"So sorry to hear that Hardwood Ski and Bike have taken the same stance as the down hill skiers took when snowboarding was introduced. This close minded approach to new forms of recreational activity is very unfortunate.
As with snowboarding the older narrow minded people spread lies and rumors about our recreational activity (Electric Unicycle).
As with snowboarding over time people will see the injustices the these people are inciting against us.
Electric Unicycle are environmentally friendly, quiet and do not damage the trails any more than a regular bike. It is also quite hypocritical that e-bikes are allowed with their ability to damage the trails more than a bike."

Navigating the Trails
For those seeking a rewarding vista, the 'Crank'd' trail is a must-ride. While it presents a good challenge, the payoff is a breathtaking panoramic view from the summit. This trail is a favorite among riders who enjoy a sense of accomplishment after a strenuous climb. Always be mindful of other trail users, including cyclists, hikers, and potentially other recreational users, and practice good trail etiquette by yielding to those uphill or on wider sections.
When planning your ride, it's essential to check the official Hardwood Ski and Bike website for the most current trail conditions. Weather can significantly impact trail surfaces, and closures may occur due to maintenance or environmental factors. Having a map, whether digital or physical, can also be helpful for navigating the extensive network and discovering new routes.
Policies and Visitor Experience
A notable point of discussion among visitors is the park's stance on electric unicycles (EUCs). While e-bikes are generally permitted, EUCs are explicitly banned from the trails. This policy has led to disappointment and frustration for some individuals who view EUCs as environmentally friendly and non-damaging alternatives. Visitors planning to use an EUC should be aware of this restriction to avoid any issues upon arrival.
Despite this specific restriction, the park generally aims to provide an inclusive outdoor recreation experience. The emphasis on well-maintained trails and helpful staff aims to ensure that most visitors have an enjoyable time exploring the natural beauty of the area. It's always recommended to review the park's official rules and regulations before your visit to ensure compliance and a smooth experience.
