What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are pleasantly surprised by the depth of information and the variety of artifacts at the Osoyoos and District Museum and Archives. The donation-based admission and air-conditioned building are highlighted as positives, especially on hot desert days. Some visitors noted the museum focuses on European settlement, with Indigenous history best explored at a separate center.
"We were very pleasantly surprised by our visit to the Osoyoos Archives and Museum, which highlights the European presence, and later settlement, of the town and surrounding area in the 1800s and 1900s (a comprehensive exhibition of Nk'Mip history and heritage can be found on the east side of town at the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre). Display boards contain intriguing stories of some of the town's more prominent residents, and the museum is filled with many interesting collected and donated artifacts. Admission is by donation, and there is a small gift shop. Well worth the visit. Allow 45 minutes to an hour."

"Surprising amount of displays and information in this museum. The building is modern and the AC works well on a hot desert day. The admission is by donation and the greeter was friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed the printing press and dugout canoe, as well as the stories behind both.
Make sure you look in the cabinets to find interesting old books, like the old edition of Sex, Marriage and Birth Control.
What a variety of exhibits, everything from old army items to old motor boats. Aldo toys including a model train, fancy clothing and an apple crate maker!
A fun thing to do on a really hot day.
Open 10 to 3 pm."
