What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Deschenes Rapids Lookout for its beautiful river views, abundant wildlife, and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for walks, picnics, and photography. Some note the inconvenience of weekend parkway closures for drivers and the presence of mosquitos, advising against swimming.
"This is a great spot here along the Ottawa River. You have some nice views and if you come at the right time you may see lots of geese and ducks hanging out together. Lots of redwing blackbirds as well. 👍😎"

"Love this spot. Does not have a playground, but it has a really good view of the Ottawa River. The location is also right near paths and walkways, which are surrounded by trees and a beautiful environment, and go all along the Ottawa river. The actual lookout itself has a shore you can go down to in order to get a better view of the water. I like to go there early mornings to try and fish but if you do this know that you will need a rod long enough to cast deep into the river, as it is shallow and rocky near the shores. Always ducks birds geese and animals in the morning hanging around if you go early enough, which is nice to see. Good spot to eat outdoors if you secure the picnic table there to.
Would not recommend swimming as the water is connected to Britannia beach, which is almost always being shut down for elevated E coli levels. Also, I would recommend bug spray around that area as, at some times, there can be a lot of mosquitos and bugs.
There is parking for cars 🚗 and can actually be a good spot if you need to pull over for one reason or another."

"The first time going there was great nice little park but the second time we could get in due to the NCC blocking the parkway for bicycle use so not good to go on wkends"
