What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Rodmay Heritage Hotel offers a charmingly historic stay in Powell River, praised for its friendly staff, unique character, and affordable rates. While some rooms are basic and the building has quirks like slanted floors and no elevator, guests appreciate the clean accommodations and the opportunity to connect with local history. It's a solid choice for budget travelers and those seeking an authentic, character-filled experience.
"We made a very last-minute booking at the Rodmay (literally called while driving into town late one night) and our room was ready when we got there. We had a baby with us and the staff were so kind, friendly, and accommodating. I enjoyed going through all the historic photos in the lobby to learn about its historical significance to Powell River. The hotel is old and could use some TLC but it is very clean. We would definitely stay here again!"

"I stayed here for 2 nights and it was pretty decent. I enjoyed the historical charm to it, the staff was helpful and friendly enough.
My only complains are the distance from the downtown, the room was a little dark, and my door wouldn't lock while inside, so I put a chair in front of it at night.
It had a TV with ROKU for Netflix and such which is a nice touch for a quaint older building, probably like 24 inch.
I got the cheapest room but I feel the value was good.
$108/night was the price and honestly it was the fairest price. There is no kitchenette but the room is good enough for 2 people. I went alone but 2 could fit comfortably.
The room I had, number 19, I wouldn't recommend to a small family, if you mind being snug, it wouldn't be considered spacious for more then 1-2 but it was more than enough for one.
It had a queen sized bed, with 2 regular pillow and 2 Rodmay hotel ones on top.
A nice cover with an asian design over the bed was a welcome touch as the owners are of asian descent.
It felt very homey to be there.
When I arrived they were beside the lobby, in a dining room. Happy to help!
Overall: 4/5
I never felt unsafe despite the door not locking, maybe it was faulty, I can't say for sure. Plus the WiFi was really good for the building and location. I had 5 bars with the wifi.
Everyone I met in Powell River was nice, the hotel staff included, first time here and will be back again someday. I came for school."

"The room was clean and the bedding was crisp and smelled fresh. The Mattress was very springy and firm. only 2 pillows. Towels were clean and nice. Building was built in 1911 so keep this in mind. Floors are extremely unlevel and slanted to the middle and there no elevator or air conditioning in some rooms. Charming and loaded with history. The rate was a bit steep at 147. We had a small dog with us that was an extra 25. We initially booked on Booking.com pay when you get there and the rate was 162.00 including the pet fee but it was more when we went. He said he gave us free upgrade to queen but maybe the extra charge was for the queen instead of the double. Owner was helpful and enthusiastic."
