Made a trip to Robertson Cliffs today. A journey we didn’t know how far we would make it with my wife dealing with Long Covid Issues. But when we made it to the top with a few breaks along the way…. She made it! She pushed and made it and the emotion of accomplishment was one I will never forget. So proud of her! ❤️ #strength #outdoorslife #hiking #adventure

A special thanks to @sault.ste.marie for showing @thehappy_hiker_ and I around the Soo this past weekend! Save for your next trip➡️ 1. Robertson Cliffs - A 5 Km loop through boreal forest passing 2 sets of waterfalls, or a short, challenging ( but worth it) trek to the top of the cliffs that are managed by @algomahighlandsconservancy volunteers! This is by far my favourite fall lookout ! 🍂

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the incredible, challenging hikes at Robertson Cliffs, with the panoramic views from the lookouts being a major highlight. The Ila's Loop is praised as a fantastic workout and a great way to experience the wilderness. While some find the main trail steep, the reward is consistently described as worth the effort. The fall colors are particularly celebrated, making it a scenic and romantic spot.

"Incredible, challenging hike in the Algoma Highlands. The climb to the Robertson Cliffs lookouts is steep but totally worth it for the panoramic views over the valley. The full 5 \text{ km} Ila's Loop is a fantastic workout and a great way to experience the local wilderness. Bring good boots!"

"Robertson Cliffs, located near Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, is a hidden gem for hikers and nature lovers. The hike to the top isn’t overly long—about 3 to 5 km depending on your route—but it’s steep in spots and gives you a good workout. What makes it worth it? The views. You’ll pass streams, mossy forests, and rugged rock faces. It’s peaceful and uncrowded, so it feels like your own private slice of nature.

Tip: Bring good footwear—it can get muddy or icy depending on the season. And don’t skip the lookouts; they’re some of the best in Northern Ontario.

Perfect for a half-day adventure with a huge reward at the top."

"My Mom and I went here for our second hike together. We went up the long way, from the backside of the mountain. We went to the waterfalls first. We were so glad we did when we were coming down at the end. It would have been really challenging and a bit of a nightmare to go the front way. I’m 45 years old and my Moms 75 and although this trail is rated easy on all trails if you read the map properly it’s very challenging going up the front way. I would not recommend it unless you are an avid climber. The views are spectacular for this area. This is one of the very best scenic and romantic places to go. I highly recommend you do it with a special person. Today my Mom and I were honouring my late brother Luke who passed away suddenly from cancer recently. He had always wanted to do this hike with his young wife. We remembered him and the outdoorsman he was. He was a firefighter and passed away at 33. It was a very spiritual experience as Eagles came from nowhere to join us once we got to the summit. Chi Miigwetch creator for sharing your love with us today as we remembered Luke. There was also a funny point in this story where we got lost. My phone died and we had no GPS and had lost the trail completely. Thank God again for angels and other lost hikers! lol There was another lady who we had befriended on the summit who was also completely lost. Her phone was working though so she let me lead and eventually we got back to the main trail. Always charge your phones and GPS and if you can bring a spare battery. Type two fun!! Yay!! 😎"
