Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum for its deeply knowledgeable and passionate docents who bring the history of Jewish immigration in Eastern Canada to life. The museum is described as a small but unique gem, offering an hour of fascinating insights for a modest donation. Some visitors noted a potential discomfort with the presence of Israeli flags, which may be a consideration for those sensitive to current geopolitical issues.
"This is a very impressive gem of Jewish history and an active reform Synagogue in St. John New Brunswick. There is a tiny Jewish population, but this museum has a wonderful collection of the history of Jews in Eastern Canada. The tour guide is so kind and knowledgeable. It is a must-visit for anyone with a connection to Jewish history or interested in it. It is also so important to support this wonderful place."

"The overall experience was great, the guide was really sweet and explained a lot about the Jewish immigration history in St John. HOWEVER, there was an Israeli flag inside the synagogue and on the pins of the staff which, knowing what the Israeli government is doing right now, feels really… out of place and knowing that beforehand, I wouldn’t have gone there. So, if you are sensitive to that, I wouldn’t recommend visiting."
Élodie Benoit
"Beautiful home that was turned into a synagogue after the home, and the adjacent building were bought from a funeral home. The docents are very knowledgeable and are passionate about their work. A small five dollar donation in about an hour of information are just great."
