While the climb is noted as challenging, the panoramic vistas and the unique geological history make it a highly recommended destination for nature lovers and hikers.
"The park staff at the visitor centre and hut were incredibly friendly and helpful.
We did the Lac Pioui trail, which leads to the same summit via a ridge hike. It's a rustic multi-terrain trail that leads you to a unique combination of valleys, rock faces, and bare peaks. At the summit (981m), you’ll be greeted with one of the most impressive views over the Charlevoix region.
I encourage the extra few kilometers for breathtaking views."
Ann
"Excellent hike. At the top you can see remnants of a 400 million year old impact crater."
Matthew Cory
"A great trail with lots of views. We took the Pioui to circle around the long way up which we think is a lot more interesting. It has a section of about 45 minutes of moderate heart pumping vertical climb but then it is flatter with intervals of climbs until you get close to the summit where they have stairs. It took us 2.5 hours to get up to the summit which is at an altitude of 900m. The summit views are spectacular with 360° vistas. Plan to spend at least half an hour at the summit. We them took only an hour to descend."
