Saskatoon: Wanuskewin Heritage park is a world renowned indigenous site just outside of Saskatoon. In 1987. It was declared a national historic site by Queen Elizabeth II. It’s an absolutely incredible property . As we gazed over the flat, Prairie Vista at the bison viewing platform , the history was told to us in a series of stories and anecdotes by Dr. Ernie Walker, the founder of the park. W...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Wanuskewin Heritage Park for its beautiful setting, informative exhibits, and the awe-inspiring presence of the bison herd. Many highlight the cultural presentations as enriching and memorable. Some visitors noted that certain facilities or exhibits were not operational during their visit, and a desire for more site-specific merchandise in the gift shop was expressed.

"Please stop by if you are ever in the area. This beautifully curated Indigenous location is so worth your time!
Nestled on the banks of the North Saskatchewan, there is so much to do and see. The indoor displays are stunning and interactive. The walking trails are easy to navigate and very interesting including a buffalo jump and magnificent playground.
You could easily spend several hours here. We were there for about 2 hours and didn’t do everything available to us - will definitely go back. The gift store sells authentic Indigenous treasures so bring your pocketbook.
I think my favorite artifact was the teepee made from hide and stitched together - stunning!"

"Enjoyed my visit here during my trip through Saskatoon. The displays were very informative and educational about Indigenous people and their history. The museum is also surrounded by some lovely trails with beautiful views. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area."

Patricia L

"Beautiful building and grounds. Some things didn't seem to be working and the larger gallery was being set up. We really enjoyed the hoop dance presentation.
Wish list items. We really liked the logo. I wish there was more merchandise that was special to the site itself or with the logo. Other than some shirts (kids sizes) that were mostly sold out there was nothing more than the usual gift shop items.
It would be great if there was additional seating or the museum walking stools available.
It would also be amazing if there was a way to tour people with mobility limitations around a few sites along the trails."
