Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Port Dalhousie Piers and Lighthouses for their beautiful scenery, especially during sunset, and the peaceful, soothing atmosphere. The walk along the piers to the lighthouse is a highlight, offering great photo opportunities. However, a significant concern raised is the lack of safety railings, making it a place requiring extra caution, particularly for families with young children.

"This lighthouse is out at the waters edge. The walk is nice, the waves lapping the rock is soothing, and it is close to the Port Dalhouse Range Rear lighthouse. People fish here, and there are a couple of benches to sit on. Wish we could've stayed longer or seen the sunset."

"Fun walk with a great view. Be aware if your with kids who cant swim, there are no safety railing or barrier so"

"Not open to the public, the Port Dalhousie Range Front Lighthouse stands at the far end of the east pier of Port Dalhousie. As part of the improvements made during the construction of the second version of the Welland Canal, a new harbor (harbour?) was built at Port Dalhousie that provided a depth of twelve feet instead of eight-and-a-half feet. Parallel piers were carried roughly 2,000 feet out into Lake Ontario

In 1878, a square, wooden tower was built at the end of a new pier, about 300 feet north of the existing main lighthouse, to form a set of range lights for entering the canal. It is a sturdy, square, wooden lighthouse with a substantial bracketed platform enclosed by a pipe railing and crowned by an octagonal metal lantern.

At the end of the pier, you can walk completely around the lighthouse though I think my favorite picture is from the west side of the canal inlet. I was here in the morning - I'll bet the sunsets here are fantastic."
