Unflipping our historic 1920s colonial! As soon as I saw our house, I dreamed of doing a black and white checkered floor, and over 6 months later and I’m still pinching myself. The flipper put in faux marble tiles and didn’t properly repair the staircase, so we decided to bring it back to like. 🖤🤍 #interiordesign #antique #cozyathome #nancymeyersaesthetic

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Colonial Building for its stunning neoclassical architecture and significant historical importance. The guided tours, especially those led by knowledgeable staff like Ann, are consistently highlighted as a major draw, bringing the building's past to life. While some rooms are unfurnished, the overall experience is highly recommended for history buffs and those interested in local heritage.

"No waiting in line. Large building with 3 floors. Architecture was beautiful and the ceilings were incredible but the room weren’t furnished so it was just walking into bare rooms with maybe a table in the middle of the room or just a chair. Would have enjoyed a furnished house or even partially furnished to get a sense of what each room would have been used for. The only area that had detail was the parliament room."

"If you are into history this is a must see in Newfoundland.

Amazing building with a lot of historical significance. Beautiful to view even if you aren't interested in its history.

I went with my partner and we were provided with a great tour by Ann. Ann was clearly passionate about the history of the building and the tour was all the better for it.

Highly recommended if you are in St. Johns."
