The hike offers a rewarding physical challenge with stunning scenery, while the gondola provides an easy, accessible experience for all.
"I took the Banff Gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain and then hiked along the summit trails — it was an amazing experience. The walk took around 2–3 hours round trip, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys at every step.
At the top, there are restaurants, restrooms, and gift shops, making it a very comfortable place to spend time and enjoy the scenery. The combination of the gondola ride and the hike made this one of the highlights of my Banff trip. Highly recommend!"

"We decided do this trail on our first full day in Canada, and hired some trekking poles. We started very early, about 7.30am and only saw two others on the trail up. It was very overcast and foggy so visibility was poor to non existent all the way up and at the top. Walking was generally not too bad, steep at the switchbacks and then an unrelenting section nearer the top, then the elevation started to pinch and become noticeable. We are moderately fit, and it was perfectly doable. Very, very busy at the top because of the gondola. Queued for ages for a hot drink. Saw a marmot and lots of chipmunks. Walk down was quicker but harder on the knees. Fog lifted so there were some views but not the best. Passed lots of people coming up as we descended, so I imagine it's a busy trail later in the day. A worthwhile hike it you like mountains!"

"Breathtaking views on the way and up there. The best is when a nice sunny weather to see whole valley beneath. The option of taking the Gondola one way down is available, depending on availability. Some loops are steep but clearly marked and sign posted. Absolutely loved it."
