"Compton Avenue absolutely nails the Christmas atmosphere, even if the food and drinks didn’t quite live up to the setting. The moment you walk in, it feels like you’re stepping into a cozy, old-school holiday lounge—warm candlelight, low lighting, vintage lamp glow, garlands and ornaments overhead, and that “dim, intimate, winter-night” vibe that’s perfect for a date or a small group catch-up. The layout is also well done: the bar area feels lively, but the space still comes across as comfortable and snug rather than chaotic.

Where it fell short for me was the actual menu execution. The food was mediocre overall—fine, but not memorable. A lot of it felt more like “bar snacks dressed up for the season” than anything you’d come back craving. Even in the photos, the presentation looks festive and cozy (and it’s fun for the table), but taste-wise it didn’t match the mood the room creates.

Same story with the drinks: they look great in the candlelight—nice glassware, holiday garnishes, and definitely photo-friendly—but nothing really stood out in flavour. They weren’t bad, just not special enough to justify the price or hype compared to the atmosphere they’re selling.

Bottom line: Come here for the Christmas decor and vibes—it’s genuinely one of the better holiday setups and feels super cozy and romantic. Just set expectations: the experience is more about the ambiance than standout food or cocktails. If you’re going, treat it like a holiday lounge stop (one or two drinks, soak in the décor, take photos), rather than a place you’re relying on for an amazing meal."

"We had an absolutely wonderful evening at Compton Ave. Our experience exceeded our expectations. We were seated right at the front by the beautiful Christmas tree and decorations. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly while serving us. Everything was served in an exquisite manner with so much attention to detail. We enjoyed the Crosby’s hot cocoa from the Christmas cocktail menu as well as their sticky toffee pudding. I also tried their Noche de Pina drink from their contemporary menu which was 5 stars. I would consider ordering it again from the balance of unique flavours. I would love to return to try more from their extensive cocktail menu."
