What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the High Park Amphitheatre for its magical outdoor atmosphere and the high quality of the performances, especially for productions like Romeo & Juliet. The ability to bring your own food and drinks, along with the excellent sound quality, are frequently highlighted positives. Some find the rush ticket process a bit disorganized, and seating on the grass can be uncomfortable without personal cushions.
"I went to see the Romeo & Juliet performance at the High Park Amphitheatre and it was a wonderful experience 😍😍The atmosphere of being outdoors surrounded by nature makes the play feel very special, and the sound quality was excellent –you could hear everything clearly.
A useful tip you can bring your own chair or blanket, but if you don’t have one, chairs are available to rent for $3, which is really convenient.
Overall, it was an amazing evening very atmospheric, beautifully staged, and truly enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique summer theatre experience in Toronto!!!"

"Actors for Romeo and Juliet well absolutely fantastic! I am not the most enthusiastic theater goer and often fade towards the end of a performance, but everyone really hit the ball out of the park.
We arrived about 25 minutes before the start of the performance and had no problem at all finding excellent seats although the performance was full. I think the trick is bringing some of your own seating - cushions or picnic blankets or such like. From previous years I remember it getting uncomfortable mfortable sitting on the grass there.
They are very limited snacks and drinks available actually by the stage. There is more available in a cafe, just a little way outside but you need to allow more time to visit there on the way. I would recommend just bringing your own drinks and snacks. No one checks what you bring in.
Beautiful evening. Highly recommend."

"Dream In High Park. What can I say but Awesome!!! My first ever experience was years ago with a title I don’t now remember. In more recent times, namely yesterday; scenes from Romeo & Juliet lit the stage ablaze with superb performances delivered by the cast.
Getting there requires a long walk from the Bloor-Danforth subway at Bloor & High Park, the 506 College streetcar Loop (which seems closer) or a calmly paced stroll through the park via the 501 off the Queensway.
Whichever route you choose bear in mind the park is closed to vehicular traffic on weekends and the long walk from either direction is well worth it.
For those who purchase tickets online you can just go on in or do as I did and join the Rush line to gain your entry onsite for just a mere $20 CAD for adults/ $10 for a child. Cash or charge accepted. Show starts at 8 p.m and by 7:45 p.m Rush patrons are allowed in with a cautionary “most likely standing room only” being repeated by staff.
I was fortunate enough to find seating and thoroughly enjoyed the show from my perch on high. I highly recommend this production to anyone seeking a low budget outdoorsy yet artsy experience under the stars✨"
