Reviews Summary

Oakwood Library is appreciated for its friendly staff and the availability of study spaces, though some visitors note a shift towards a less quiet environment due to new inclusive policies. The library offers a good selection of books and community programming, but concerns have been raised about noise levels and Wi-Fi security. Reddit

"It is a nice library to study—a fair amount of places to sit upstairs, although a little old. And If you crave a coffee, Oakwood Expresso is right across the street!"

Leonara Rocha

"I used to love coming here when I needed somewhere quiet to read but not any longer for reasons. The whole branch changed now with less available books to read on the second floor, replaced with open space to allow more fluorescent light to burn your vision. People coming in to the study areas for their loud phone conversations with no regard for others. The wifi constantly tripping my laptop’s browser because it seems the network is unsecured. The long time staff are friendly and that’s the only upside to this branch."

"I am a library person and am a regular visitor at Toronto Public Library at multiple locations.
I visited this one today with an intent to study quietly, however there was a bunch of middle school kids making loud noises/using abusive language/playing with the tables as though this was a picnic spot. All the visitors were annoyed by their behaviour. When I told the librarian, she said as per ‘new policy’, libraries are not supposed to be a “quiet place” anymore and that they are trying to be inclusive of everyone. Inclusive of what?? Their nasty behaviour??? Hello, this is a library people come here to study/read in peace, not to be disturbed by a bunch of ill mannered kids! Apparently, the staff is also tired of them making it
difficult for others. She was kind enough to understand the problem. If this isn’t sorted soon, people will eventually stop trusting and coming to Toronto Public Library."
