Fort York Library

Has anyone been to the Fort York Library? Specifically on a Saturday. My friend and I are planning to go study there today and was wondering how busy it would be around like 1 pm and if they have a lot of seat options in the library.

Whats an underrated nice TPL branch in Toronto?

Hi! I’m in the Regent Park area and want to start spending more time at Toronto Public libraries. I absolutely love all their resources and want to make use. I’m asking what are some nice, quieter, underrated branches around Toronto? Closer is better of course, but I don’t mind…

Reviews Summary

The Toronto Public Library is widely praised for its extensive digital resources, free online courses, and welcoming community spaces. While many staff members are helpful and professional, some reviewers have noted inconsistent service in specific departments, particularly regarding access to specialized equipment. The availability of comfortable seating and quiet study areas can also be a challenge during busy periods.

"The digital innovation hub has the absolute worst set of male staff. I was helped once by a lovely woman, but every time I have to interact with one of the guys working here I am treated like a total inconvenience. These guys have zero interest in doing their jobs or helping people with tasks. On one instance I came in with an hour left in the library hours and one of them told me there wasn’t enough time to take a few photos on the camera. We persisted and left with 45 minutes to spare. They would rather have the studio sit empty becuase someone has it booked - even though the protocol is if someone doesn’t show up for a certain amount of time it’s available to the public. This is such an incredible public resource that could help so many people but it’s such a shame that it’s staffed by people who couldn’t care less. I understand the challenges that come with public facing jobs having worked them for almost my entire life. But meeting people with kindness is the bare minimum especially in a community hub like the public library."

"The staff is very helpful and professional. Whenever I needed information I was given elaborate details. I left an important document in the copier 10 days ago and one of the staff had kept it in the safe with a pink slip on it!! I was so glad to find it. Thank you for all your service :)"
