"The Waterton Visitor Centre is a must-stop when visiting the park. The building itself is beautiful, modern, and designed to reflect the surrounding landscape — lots of natural light, wood, and stone that give it a welcoming and warm feel.
Inside, the exhibits are excellent. They do a great job of combining interactive displays, maps, and detailed information about the park’s history, geology, wildlife, and Indigenous connections to the land. The section on local wildlife, especially the bears, mountain goats, and birds, is both fascinating and very useful for knowing what to expect on the trails. There are also hands-on areas that kids enjoy, making it a great stop for families.
The staff and Parks Canada interpreters are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to help. They provide up-to-date information about trail conditions, closures, and bear activity, which is invaluable before heading out to hike. They also offer tips on the best scenic drives, picnic spots, and hidden gems that you might miss otherwise.
The centre also has clean washrooms, a gift shop with quality local and park-themed items, and plenty of brochures and maps available. Outside, there are nice areas to sit and enjoy the view before heading into the park itself.
Overall, the Visitor Centre isn’t just a place to grab information — it sets the tone for your entire experience in Waterton. You are also close to all the shops and restaurants. Stopping here first will make your trip more enjoyable, safe, and meaningful. A must see, we can’t wait to come back!"

"The best National Park in Canada. Lots to do but very busy. Bears Hump is a great hike and rated as moderate. Depends on how fit you are some will find it extremely hard. The view from the top can't be beat. Pizza of Waterton has the best pizza ever. Must visit the Prince of Wales Hotel for another fantastic view. Very hard to get a spot in the campground, you need to be on the online booking the minute they open as it fills up extremely fast. Lots of hiking and walking paths around the village and a new state of the art visitor center."

"One of the best kept secrets as far as Parks in Alberta! I love Red Rock Canyon so much, it looks different every year!!! We come hike too! The views of the US mountains are stunning! And we have seen lots of bears here! None this year (June 2025)
I do wish there were more amenities here, (we had to drive back to Pincher Creek to get diesel, a 30 minute one way trip!)"
