What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Thermea Spa Village Whitby for its serene atmosphere, extensive thermal facilities, and rejuvenating experience. The Kalla float and hourly rituals are often highlighted as unique draws. However, some guests find booking treatments difficult due to limited availability and the overall cost can be high, with the parking lot also noted as a minor inconvenience.
"Thermea spa was a wonderful and relaxing experience. I’d rate it 5 service, but unfortunately, it only gets 4 overall for the difficulty in booking, limited spots for treatments and because my friend and I were not able to experience everything it had to offer, as we were given a late afternoon time slot only. This was quite disappointing. Perhaps had we had more time, this review might have been scored perfectly.
The managers Ashley and Miriam were welcoming and accommodating during our time at the spa village: They ensured that my friend and I experienced the very best of what the spa village had to offer. Whether it was their recommendation to try their restaurant and order a cocktail, immerse ourselves in the stillness and hypnotic Moroccan style Kalla experience (I highly recommend this as an add on experience), or attending the 8pm Discovery meditation experience with Jamie, our afternoon/evening was simply put, perfect, thanks to the staff at Thermea spa village.
On another note, it is worth mentioning that, while the massage treatment I received was very expensive, compared to other spa massages, in all honesty, it was wonderful and Shirley (my RMT) was consistent with the deep tissue massage and pressure. I would appreciate and consider booking another massage in the future at Thermea as a result. However, what I would really like to try is their scalp massage and a customized facial. As aforementioned, it’s difficult to reserve treatments and get into the spa village early enough to enjoy your money’s worth, which is the downfall. It’s an expensive day and more earlier time slots and availability for treatments, would have made this review receive an overall higher score."

"Our day at Thermea was a relaxing experience but wasn’t without its quirks. Your journey begins navigating through a pothole‑laden dirt parking lot that feels like a WW2 reenactment. My car’s suspension took a toll after battling it out in the trenches, so until the roads are fixed, I wouldn’t recommend driving a slammed sedan.
Check‑in was smooth and stress‑free. The facility is phone‑free, with everything linked to your wristband for lockers and payments. There are plenty of changing rooms, and your stay includes a thick robe and towel—warm enough for winter, though many guests layered shirts and toques underneath.
The grounds are stunning, with hot pools, saunas, and cold plunges that make you feel transported to Iceland. Seating is limited, and even on a Tuesday afternoon it was busier than expected, leaving us wandering at times while waiting for our massage.
The massage area was quiet and cozy, with complimentary tea while you wait. Though couples massages aren’t offered, the treatment itself was excellent—my RMT was attentive and informative throughout.
We didn’t dine in this time, but it’s on the list for next visit."

"We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Thermëa, and the entire experience was incredibly relaxing from start to finish. It’s only about a 45-minute drive from downtown Toronto, making it very accessible for a quick escape from the city.
When you arrive, the self check-in kiosks make the process smooth and quick. You leave a $150 deposit that goes toward any food, drinks, or services you decide to enjoy during your visit. After checking in, you receive a wristband that automatically assigns you a locker—very convenient and efficient.
The locker area is massive, and the washrooms are separated, with accessible options available. Each locker includes a robe and a towel, and you can change your robe and towel as frequently as you like. Just remember to bring your own flip-flops, or you can purchase a pair for around $11 at the counter.
There are water stations placed strategically throughout the facility, so it’s best to bring your own water bottle for easy refills while exploring. The on-site restaurant offers both lounge-style seating and a full dining area. On the second floor, you’ll also find a cozy beer and wine section—perfect for unwinding.
We tried the Rassoul treatment, which was a unique and deeply relaxing experience. It’s a must-try if you’re visiting for the first time. The facility itself offers a wide variety of thermal experiences; taking a moment to review the facility map helps you navigate and make the most of your visit.
What stood out the most was the serene atmosphere. With no phones allowed inside, the entire space feels peaceful and distraction-free, allowing you to fully enjoy the moment.
Overall, our Thermëa visit was calm, rejuvenating, and the perfect way to celebrate a special day. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax and unwind."
