Reviews Summary
Thermea offers a rejuvenating Nordic spa experience with beautiful outdoor baths and diverse saunas, praised for its relaxing atmosphere and good food. However, some visitors find it can get overcrowded, especially on weekends, and note that prices have increased over time. Occasional service issues have also been mentioned.
"Had such a great experience at this spa! I’ve been to Thermea in Whitby and I love how it’s not the exact same as it is there. There’s a bunch of different buildings with different treatments. Unfortunately it’s not as big as the Whitby location but that doesn’t really matter too much! The weather was perfect, the rituals were awesome, the staff were lovely and the food was amazing. Our serve Melanie was really sweet and helpful when it came to choosing what to get! All in all I had a fantastic time and it wasn’t too crowded at all!
Also! Forgot to mention that they’re currently doing renovations (which honestly didn’t really ruin my experience) and they said that because of that our next time we book we get 25% off because we didn’t get the full experience! So nice!"

"Went to Thermea yesterday, Saturday with my partner for the evening time. Honestly, the whole experience has gone down hill and the price is getting more and more steep. This is my 4th visit over the years, use to be way better.
When we first arrived 5 p.m. check in, went to the men’s locker room it was INSANELY busy, packed where we had to stand there for 10 minutes to get to our locker area where guys had to change in front of another, shoulder to shoulder, it’s worse then a gym’s locker room…they clearly need to expand the area for the volume of people. When we finally got to the pool areas it was pretty packed too but manageable. Other areas of the experience were packed and busy too but tapered off in the evening thankfully.
We went to the restaurant for dinner the food and service was fantastic. We got a great view upstairs near the fireplace. Portions were huge too. Our server she was amazing.
Me and my partner stayed till close we went through the whole experience which was nice but near the end of it, it turned upside down as I tried to order a beer just after 9 p.m. for the poolside at the bar they refused to serve me as it was apparently to late… to pour a beer lol. Then on top of that two staff members were rude to me, laughed at me, then walked me out of the bar to get me out of there. I went to customer service right after that as I was upset they listened, took my information, and the manager offered me 25% off my visit which was a nice gesture. However, the bar staff the way they treated me (the paying customer) is unacceptable and should be reviewed.
We still had an okay experience… the resto, pools saved the review but Thermea definitely needs to improve in some areas."

"I have been at Thermal spas in many countries and by far this was the most disappointing one for me unfortunately. Not worth the $$.
The spa is well structured in terms of proximity, the space is very zen and the vibe is there to help you relax BUT I found the pool and hot tub to be a little too small for the number of people that are allowed into the space and considering how full the spa was on a weekday on a hot summer day I know to avoid it during winter time and weekends. It can get overwhelming not being able to rest in the pool without being very close to someone else when you are trying to relax. After asking my mother in law about her experience in the rooms I was not able to enter she told me she did not enjoy it much either as the space was crammed and she though everything was too overcrowded and she felt it was not very hygienic, that is unfortunate because it was her birthday and she came from abroad I really wanted her to enjoy the place. We had to wait in turn to access our lockers as they were full. The whole experience is not very pregnancy friendly most rooms are off limits to pregnant women due to safety concerns, the pool, beach and meditation rooms were enjoyable. The people working the pizza shack are very professional and friendly, the food was really good!
Would I want to visit again? Unfortunately I will have to as I gifted my mother a day pass for her birthday as well and I am definitely not looking forward for the crowds and queues."

The Art of Relaxation: Mastering the Thermal Cycle
Visitors are encouraged to complete this cycle multiple times throughout their visit. The saunas themselves are diverse, ranging from eucalyptus-infused steam rooms to dry heat rooms with unique themes. Each offers a different sensory experience. Remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water between cycles.
Pro-tip from Redditors: Bring a toque (beanie) to wear during your rest periods to retain heat and enhance relaxation, especially during colder months. Also, ensure your robe stays dry to maximize its warmth.
Navigating Crowds and Finding Serenity
To maximize your chances of a peaceful visit, consider booking your entry for weekday mornings. This is often cited as the quietest time, allowing for more personal space in the thermal areas. If a weekday isn't possible, arriving right at opening or later in the evening might offer a slightly less crowded experience, though some services like the bar may have limited hours.
Community Advice: If you find yourself in a crowded situation, try exploring less popular relaxation spots or saunas. Sometimes, moving to a different zone can significantly improve your experience. Patience and a flexible attitude are key to enjoying Thermea, even when it's busy.
Beyond the Baths: Dining and Amenities
Beyond dining, Thermea provides essential amenities to ensure comfort. While robes and towels are often available for rent, bringing your own flip-flops is highly recommended for navigating the grounds. The spa also offers exfoliation rooms, adding another layer to the therapeutic offerings.
Traveler Insights: Some guests have noted issues with bar service near closing time, so plan your drinks accordingly. Additionally, while renovations might temporarily impact the 'full experience,' Thermea has been known to offer discounts for future visits as a gesture of goodwill.
