Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Ancud Centro Historic Quarter for its unique bronze sculptures depicting local legends and the vibrant artisan market offering great prices on crafts. The central Plaza de Armas is seen as a beautiful and safe space to experience local culture. Some visitors found the mythological sculptures to be a bit 'creepy,' and it's advisable to visit the artisan market earlier in the day to catch all vendors.

"Late afternoon I stopped by this Plaza and the Artesian was packing up so, I couldn't shop anything.
Walking around the place in a little bit cool day. We got to see all the statues of the mist of Chiloe some or perhaps all very creepy to read."

Margarita Beale

"Nice public square. I'd specially recommend seeking the bronze sculptures scattered around the flower beds: they depict local legends (of both native, European and mixed origins) and are accompanied by placards telling the story, in Spanish and in English both."

Durval Menezes

"When visiting cities in Chile, or rather Latin America in general, it's best to pay a visit to the main square to delve into an everyday scene of the location. This place is beautiful, safe and interesting - but not too large. There are some beautiful hand-calved statues here which represent local mythological characters - provided by a local sculpturer and artist. Live music, and festivals are held here during the warmer season where most of the local community join together in celebration. Local farmers markets which sell incredible artisanal gifts and trinkets, home-made food and produce are sold throughout the year here too."
