What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently awestruck by the surreal, otherworldly architecture designed by Zaha Hadid, often comparing it to alien structures. The island park viewpoint is highly praised for its panoramic photo opportunities. However, some feel the 'arts' aspect is lacking, and the night lighting could be significantly improved.
"Beautiful project by world famous Zaha Hadid architects, although it could use a better maintenance, the overall complex is a great addition to the city. I've had the opportunity to watch a concert there and the interior is also splendid. You can't fly a drone there, but if you cross the bridge, on the opposite side, there's an island and a park with the best overall view of the entire project (and best place for both pictures and drone footage). The night lights could improve significantly, having seen how other cities in China have done it so well (Shanghai for example) I think this project could get a boost from a good lighting design for night time. It's pretty dark and dull when night falls. Regardless, it's totally worth a visit."

"This was the third Zaha Hadid building I have seen in my life. Each one is more beautiful than the other. I believe that Zaha Hadid’s early departure from this world is one of the greatest losses for us in the architectural community."

"This complex of building is sureal, like from another planet. Inside is cool as well but I think just walk around is an interesting experience. To me it remaind kind of whales."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Be mindful that the primary attraction is the architecture itself, so keeping younger children engaged might require framing it as a visit to a 'futuristic city' or 'giant sculptures.' Check for any family-friendly events or exhibitions that might be scheduled to add an interactive element to the visit.
📸 Photographers & Architecture Enthusiasts
While drones are restricted over the main structure, the island park is your best bet for drone photography. Be prepared for the possibility of less-than-ideal night lighting, as noted by some reviewers, and focus your efforts on capturing the building's form under the sun. Consider bringing a wide-angle lens to fully encompass the scale of the complex in your shots.

The Architectural Vision of Zaha Hadid
Each Zaha Hadid building is a masterpiece, and this center is no exception. Her early passing was a significant loss to the architectural world, making her completed works even more precious. The design aims to integrate art and culture seamlessly with its environment, creating a landmark that is both visually captivating and functionally significant for the city.
Capturing the Perfect Shot: Photography Tips
Daylight hours are crucial for appreciating the building's form and texture. The late afternoon golden hour is particularly magical, casting a warm glow that accentuates the curves and lines. While the exterior is the main photographic draw, be aware that the night lighting could be significantly improved, as noted by some visitors who have seen more impressive light displays in other Chinese cities. Experiment with different angles and compositions from the island park to find the most compelling shots that showcase this architectural wonder.
Beyond the Architecture: Culture and Events
However, some visitors have noted a lack of 'arts' or events during their visit, leading to a feeling of it being a 'waste of time' if only the exterior is considered. Therefore, prior research into the venue's schedule is highly recommended to ensure a fulfilling visit that goes beyond just admiring the external design.
