"This place is definitely worth a visit because of the MASSIVE statue of Guanyin (Avalokitesvara) contained in the main temple. I'd say if you had to choose one temple, choose this one. The Guanyin itself is extremely impressive but no pictures are allowed. It's enough to just stand there and gawk at it. It's one of those 1000 arm, 1000 eyed representations. They have a smaller scale version too so you can see the details of the upper body."

"We have visited the Mountain Resort, Putuo Zongcheng (Potala Palace) Temple and Puning Si Temple in Chengde and I definitely preferred the temples over the Summer Resort, although only a slight bit. I believe the most appealing in Puning Si will be the main building with the world's tallest wooden buddha sculpture (over 20 meters tall) and the temple grounds with hobbit-like doors."
