What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pingshan Park is appreciated for its recent accessibility upgrades, particularly the smooth, barrier-free trails that welcome visitors of all ages and mobility levels. The rebuilt Zhenhai Tower offers scenic views, making it a pleasant local spot for leisurely walks and family outings. While some note a loss of original character post-renovation, the park remains a valued community resource for relaxation and exercise.
"I grew up on this hill."

"beautiful place....."
Yasin Khondokar
"Three Mountains and One River are one of Fuzhou's most iconic symbols. Pingshan is one of the three mountains, located directly north of the ancient city. Its screen-like shape earned it the nickname "Pingshan." To the southeast lie Yeshan and Ouye Pond.
Renovations were completed at the end of 2018 and the park reopened earlier this year. Many classmates have chosen this spot for reunions. The park itself is small, and the landscape renovations are similar to other parks. While the facilities are newer and more modern, they lack some of the unique character of the park. Fortunately, the Zhenhai Tower makes it worth a visit.
However, the newly constructed Pingshan Park offers excellent barrier-free trails. In addition to the stair climbing path, there's also a dedicated winding path that allows elderly people with limited mobility and children to climb the mountain smoothly using their own vehicles. This is a great addition, providing significant convenience for residents seeking leisure and exercise."

The History and Significance of Pingshan Park
During the Ming Dynasty, a prominent building, the Zhenhai Tower, was erected on the mountain. It was once the tallest structure in Fuzhou, offering views all the way to the Minjiang River estuary. Sadly, this original tower was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. The current Zhenhai Tower is a reconstruction, rebuilt on the original site in December 2006 and reopened to tourists, preserving a piece of Fuzhou's architectural heritage.
The park itself underwent significant renovations, completed around the end of 2018. While these updates have modernized the facilities and improved accessibility, some visitors note a departure from the park's original character. Nevertheless, the presence of the rebuilt Zhenhai Tower remains a key draw, connecting the modern park to its rich past.
Accessibility and Modern Amenities
These accessible paths are particularly beneficial for elderly visitors and families with young children, allowing them to ascend the mountain comfortably, even with strollers or mobility aids. This thoughtful design makes Pingshan Park a more inclusive and welcoming space for the local community and visitors alike, promoting leisure and exercise for everyone.
While the park boasts newer and more modern facilities, some long-time residents recall a unique character that may have been altered by the renovations. However, the improved infrastructure and accessibility are widely appreciated, making it a convenient and pleasant destination for a relaxed outing.
