What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Tanshishan Archaeological Site Museum to be a free, local history resource, though some describe exhibits as average and note ongoing renovations. The surrounding park is popular with locals in the evenings, offering a different kind of cultural experience.
"Very underwhelming museum. some exhibits are not opened. The Dinosaur section is under renovation (Oct 2025) until not sure when. Its located at a park, around evening time it gets super crowded with people coming here for strolls, jogs, walking the dogs, couples chilling etc. Overall not worth the time. The existing exhibits are also underwhelming. I have seen much better stuff elsewhere in China."

"If you want to know the local history of a Chinese region, the provincial museum is always a good starting point for exploration. Compared to the historic provinces and cities, such as Beijing, Xi'an, Shanxi, Henan etc., Fujian is not particularly famous for its archaeological discovery and collection, but I would highly recommend the arts and handcrafts exhibition in the Fujian Museum. Definitely worth a visit.
The entrance is free and it'll take an average of 2-3 hours to have a proper visit."
