What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Yushan Mountain is appreciated for its historical depth and the cool, shaded environment provided by its abundant banyan trees, making it a pleasant escape. While some find it a 'small hill' rather than a grand mountain, its free entry and rich cultural heritage, including ancient carvings and temples, offer a worthwhile experience for those seeking a relaxed exploration of Fuzhou's past and nature.
"It's just a small hill. Fuzhou is called Banyan City because the whole city is full of banyan trees. So it's quite cool on this hill because it doesn't get much sun."

"Yushan is 52.2 meters above sea level, shaped like a giant Ao, with the highest point being Aoding Peak. The mountain has rugged rocks, towering trees and beautiful scenery, and has always been a tourist attraction. In ancient times, there were six Ao scenic spots on the mountain, including Lan'ao Pavilion, Yi'ao Xuan, Bu'ao Po, Ying'ao Stone, Jie'ao Gate, and Tower Ao Peak, as well as 24 wonders such as the Alchemy Well, Nine Immortals Temple, and Pingyuan Terrace, which were called the 24 Wonders of Da'ao. After the Republic of China, they gradually fell into disrepair due to years of disrepair. The stele gallery lists inscriptions from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. After 1979, restoration of the scenic spot began. The main attractions include Pingyuan Terrace and Qi Gong Temple, Nine Immortals Temple and Tianjun Hall, Dashan Hall, Baoen Dingguang Duobao Pagoda (i.e. White Pagoda), etc. There are more than 100 cliff carvings on the mountain since the Song Dynasty.
Yushan is also called "Nine Immortals Mountain" and "Jiuri Mountain". It is said that during the Warring States Period, a "Yuyue tribe" moved here, so this mountain was named "Yushan". Legend has it that the nine brothers of the He family practiced Taoism and made alchemy on the mountain during the Han Dynasty, also known as "Nine Immortals Mountain". There are also related monuments on the mountain, such as the Nine Immortals Cave, the Nine Immortals Temple, and the Alchemy Well. Yushan is also known as "Jiuri Mountain". It is said that it was named after Wuzhu, King of Minyue, who held a banquet here on September 9th during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty.
Open 4A scenic spot, free of charge."
