Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the teahouse for its exceptional hospitality, particularly from the owner Dong, who offers a genuine cultural experience and a wealth of local knowledge. It's also lauded as a prime destination for unique souvenirs, from historical memorabilia to traditional clothing. While the location might require a bit of searching, the rewarding experience makes it well worth the effort.
"The best place to go on Shamian Island. Dong is a master of hospitality. In 2011, he helped us so much when we were there to adopt our daughter. I learned a proper Chinese tea service, he helped us get laundry done, develop pictures, get traditional Chinese jackets made (perfect for celebrating special occasions), taught about Chinese culture and about Maoming (where he and our daughter are from), even brought us delicious traditional foods during Dragon Boat Festival. He is truly an ambassador for the gracious Chinese people. He made our 2 weeks on Shamian Island special. I think of Dong often and if we ever make it back to China, we will plan a day to spend with Dong. We loved sitting with him over tea for hours. Let’s do it again, my friend. You’re remembered with warm regard. We hope you and your family are well and healthy. Thank you again for your kindness. And, yes, she is amazing!"

"Dong (the guy in the back of the photo) runs the place and if you're nice he'll invite you for formal Cantonese tea. Maybe you'll see his cat outside. Full of amazing Guangzhou memorabilia. They have cool hats and old posters and lots of great jade and all sorts of gifts. This is the ABSOLUTE best store for getting touristy stuff while in China, if you're in Guangzhou and anywhere near Shamian Island it's very much worth the hunt. The store also goes by the slightly more pronounceable "Susan's". If you see the sign you've found it."
