What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dianchi Lake is a beautiful natural attraction, especially loved for its winter seagull visitors. While the crowds can be significant during peak times, the opportunity to feed the birds and enjoy the expansive lake views is a major draw. The addition of Western Hills and unique features like the Caohai Tunnel add further appeal.
"Very lovely lake surrounded by mountains. The only thing is the crowd. 😅 otherwise if would have been really lovely just walking along the bank. There were lots of sea gulls in one segment of the bank. There is a cable car service to the mountain the other side. There is a route there but I didn’t explore."
Trotting Horse
"Good place to enjoy the fresh air with amazing view of seagulls flying in the sky. They come here to avoid the winter of Siberia and appear from November to beginning of March only. You can bring fresh breads and let them eat. Some people sell the seagulls foods around 5¥ and provide photography services at 10-30¥. Overall, it’s a good place for sightseeing of the huge migration seagulls wave with one of the top 10 famous mountains of Kunming."
Nhung Bui
"The seagulls gather around the lake for ~3 months before they head back to Siberia. We were lucky to enjoy the beauty of nature. A must check in place when you visit Kunming during late winter."
