Originally named as Wan'an Bridge 万安桥 ,it served as a vital coastal transport link for Quanzhou, the key port city on the Maritime Silk Road. At the other end of the 1.2km bridge stands a huge statue of CaiXiang, chief the Quanzhou Prefecture who oversaw construction of this architectural marvel, as if still guarding it. "Ok honest review here from Singaporean. Its Lame. The bridge is not so long, maybe 1-2km long, and it is indeed made of ancient techniques / stone. The only interesting thing about this bridge is the pillars holding the bridge is unique and pointed like ships, and barnacles grow on them to act as some kind of protection. Besides having a look at ancient 1000 year old bridge, its really quite a waste of time. The didi taxi drop off point is not right at the spot. You have to walk about 500m to the bridge only to be underwhelmed much. Do not come here, just google and see pictures."
