Reviews Summary

Tinglin Park is praised for its central location, beautiful traditional Chinese gardens, and affordable admission fee. Visitors appreciate the recent expansion offering more to explore, including a mountain hike with great city views. While some artificial elements are noted, the overall experience is considered a worthwhile and serene escape, especially the unique summer evening cultural performances.

"When you visit Kunshan, it's hard to imagine not visiting Tinglin Park. Admission is a very understandable 20 RMB, it is very centrally located and easily accessible (Bus 1 from Kunshan (slow train) station) and the views are on par with some of the gardens in Suzhou with only a fraction of the tourists.

A recent expansion has almost doubled the size of the park so be prepared to walk quite a bit. In the centre of the park is a mountain that features a variety of ways to climb it, ranging from roads and stairs to more challenging natural paths. From the mountain top, there are outstanding views of Kunshan.

Spring is probably the best season to visit but when we visited in the winter, it was still gorgeous if in a more bleak way. Take some of the less obvious trails and paths and you will be rewarded with some excellent photo opportunities.

Pro Tip: Summer evenings occasionally feature outdoor Chinese opera performances in the gardens and "walking" on the ponds (through optical illusion). The opera features English subtitles on a screen. Even if Chinese opera is not your thing, you will definitely not regret this experience. Absolutely not to be missed. Check at the park entry gate for opera times and tickets."

"Beautiful park in the heart of Kunshan with little bridges, a mountain you can hike to the top (10 minutes max.) and gardens and bamboo forest. Simply wonderful. There is also a cat cafeteria and library inside and the staff is very welcoming and speaks English. Two cats live there as well."

"Beautiful park with great views. Only 20 RMB to enter."
