"Yixing is home to two purple clay teapot museums: the Yixing Ceramics Museum and the Yixing Purple Clay Museum, located on the site of the former Purple Clay Factory No. 1. Both museums display magnificent purple clay teapots, but the Yixing Purple Clay Museum tends to focus on works by contemporary artists, while the Yixing Ceramics Museum focuses on the works of masters of the state, such as Gu Jingzhou, Zhu Kexin, Ren Zaiting, Pei Shimin, Wu Yungen, and Wang Yinchun, who laid the foundations for Yixing purple clay. The exhibition room dedicated to Master Gu Jingzhou is particularly impressive.
Also, on the slope leading from the gate to the museum, there are studios and shops run by mid-level artisans, allowing you to purchase works directly from the artists themselves. (You won't be sold a fake like you would at a regular teapot shop, they'll tell you the clay used, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable.)
This is the kind of thing you'd want to visit. This and the Yixing Purple Clay Museum are must-sees for any purple clay teapot fan."
