"In 2009, Mr. Gao Zhenbi from the Gulangyu QQ community bought an old photo of Gulangyu. An old building in the photo was confirmed by group members Gong Jian and others to be the Concordia Chapel. At the call of the Gulangyu Cultural Community members and local media, the buildings surrounding the Concordia Chapel were demolished. After two years of restoration, the Concordia Chapel held a reopening ceremony on July 30, 2011. The church is the first church on Gulangyu and the first church dedicated to foreigners. The path between the Concordia Chapel and the Spanish Catholic Church was called Church Road.
On the eve of the reopening, Liang Zhongjun, a member of the Gulangyu Cultural Community, was invited to shoot a documentary about the history of the Concordia Chapel, "Reunion Across a Century"."

"The Concord Chapel is located on Gulangyu Island, Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. It is the first church on the island and was once a church for overseas Chinese. Built in 1863 in neoclassical style, it was originally called the International Chapel and was called "Fanzi Chapel" by locals. It was renamed the Concord Chapel after it was rebuilt in 1911. The church is a church for overseas Chinese, regardless of denomination, and worships are conducted in English. After 1949, when the overseas Chinese returned to China, they donated the Concord Chapel to the Minnan Conference of the Chinese Christian Church, where a small number of Chinese people gathered. The Concord Chapel will open a religious museum, a music salon, and host Western-style weddings."
