Reviews Summary

Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is celebrated as Xiamen's historic heart, offering a vibrant mix of colonial architecture, diverse shopping, and delicious street food. Visitors appreciate the lively atmosphere, especially in the evenings, and the opportunity to find unique souvenirs and local delicacies. While it can get crowded, the overall experience is highly rated for its historical charm and culinary offerings.

"Xiamen’s famous shopping street! Lines with tons of shops. It’s a nice walk but generally selling similar things and food too.

There’s a Chagee on this road too but traffic is high so they’re always out of certain teas."

Rennie Lee

"Zhongshan Lu is over a century old, named after the great Dr. Sun Yat-sen (Sun Zhongshan), and has long been the beating heart of Xiamen’s old town. The buildings have a charming colonial vibe. It’s like stepping into a history book… if that book also sold oyster omelettes, peanut soup, sha cha noodles and more.

You’ll also find quirky little boutiques, old-school shops selling handmade slippers, wooden crafted ang ku kueh molds and photogenic alleyways perfect for pretending you’re in a Wong Kar-wai film. *sneak peak into the road less taken for a glimpse of the local life.

2–3 hours is enough for a full loop — unless you stop every 5 steps to snack (which you will). Theres just so many choices to stop once in a while. Perfect for layovers or a quick half-day adventure."

The Wandering Tofu

"Zhongshan road is a popular walking street in the Siming district of Xiamen. It really comes alive at dusk to really late in the morning. You'll find popular franchises here like Starbucks and KFC but there are other places here that serve street food. Best time to come here is around 7."
