PHETSIAM PROMNGOY
"Originally founded as Songyang Temple in 484 during the Northern Wei period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, it was converted into a Taoist temple during the Sui dynasty. A spectacular stone monument still stands today, recording the temple's achievements in preparing elixirs to be presented to the emperor during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang. Later, during the Song dynasty, it was converted again into a school for the study of Confucianism. All of the existing buildings were rebuilt after the Qing dynasty. The highlight here is the stone monument, as well as the magnificent group of ancient trees, including the Shogun Oak, said to be over 4,500 years old."
