Located between Cartagena’s Walled City and Getsemaní, it feels very safe thanks to the visible police presence and as a popular hangout for locals. "A really lovely interesting park which was established in 1911 to commemorate Cartagena's independence. The park has well-maintained gardens, shaded pathways, fountains, beautifully dressed people plus the monument dedicated to the heroes of Colombia's independence. There are lots of wild life and also serves as a cultural hub with regular events like concerts, art exhibitions, and traditional dance performances and more."

"Beautiful park with some
Incredible wildlife. The sloths were amazing to see as well as the monkeys and lizards. The locals helped show us the animals which made it a lot easier and we happily tipped Angel as a thank you. He was shocked and didn’t expect anything at all which made the whole experience even more amazing. He showed us a tattoo on his arm of a sloth and he much he loves them. Such a great few hours. Would go around 10am or after 2pm to avoid the heat of the sun and when the sloths are more active"
