"Wood Museum and Workshop
The Alfonso Zambrano Museum Workshop was created at the initiative of Maestro Alfonso Zambrano, father of Maestro Hernando Zambrano.
Thanks to the art passed down from his father and his natural talent, he is able to create and mold surprising pieces of wood.
Like any artist, he gives his all in each new creation.
A museum workshop specializing in wood carving. Art and all kinds of figures to decorate any type of environment. With the experience of great Master Craftsmen from the Blacks and Whites Carnival of Pasto. The Zambrano Masters.

Master Zambrano is considered one of the best wood carving artists, heir to the La Fértil school of art, a Quito art school founded in the 16th century.

On September 17, Linda Zurek, coordinator of the San Pedro Claver Shrine and Museum, visited the Alfonso Zambrano Museum Workshop in Pasto, located at 20th Street #29-79.

This emblematic place has a special connection with our Shrine, as it houses an important work by Zambrano. It is the urn containing the remains of Saint Peter Claver, which is located on the main altar of the Temple.

The urn was made for the 300th anniversary of the Saint's passing. The year of this event was 1954, when, in an extraordinary way, the remains were exposed to the public and placed in the beautiful urn that traveled throughout the country. This earned the master national recognition.

Zambrano is highly regarded for the quality of his work and his personal brand, earning him national acclaim in the cultural and artistic fields. (Recommended reading: Representative of the San Pedro Claver Museum visited the Juan Lorenzo Lucero Museum in Pasto)

Today, his legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, who continue the craft of wood carving. We were able to speak with his son, Hernando Zambrano, who remembers watching his father work on the urn commissioned by the Jesuit Fathers, who were responsible for the anniversary celebrations. Today, the workshop combines the tradition of Nariño carving with contemporary design, allowing new generations to connect with this wonderful artistic technique.

Visit Zambrano's work at the Temple and the San Pedro Claver Museum in Cartagena de Indias."

"This historic space has been in operation for three generations of the Zambrano family.

Wood carving is a craft that requires patience, vision, and effort. It teaches us how resilience brings admiration from those who recognize the work.

Come visit; you'll make Mr. Zambrano happy and you'll be able to enjoy the art his hands have forged since his father began this tradition."
