What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Nabusimake for its profound peace, stunning natural beauty, and the opportunity to connect with the wise Arhuaco culture. While the journey and limited infrastructure require preparation, the restorative experience and cultural immersion are highly valued. Some find the trek challenging, and the lack of amenities necessitates careful planning.
"Worth the trouble to visit this interesting place. You can see the beautiful mountain valley with river and the houses and clothing of the indigenous. They only allow a few people each day. You obtain permission from an office in Bello outside the pueblo. 10mil. Then pay 20mil at one of two gates on the 2 hour drive. The jeeps depart from the same bus stop for Valledupar 30mil. There is no tourist infrastructure. Only 2 Spanish Colombian fincas offer beds and they don't have a sign. Ask for location. I stayed at Mila in my own room for 40mil without ability to buy meals. Bring all your own food. There is a store with nothing eat. One accommodation includes meals. You can walk around alone or ask for a guide."

"Personally, I think no phrase or word could describe how wonderful this place is. You are filled with peace, and it's exactly what every human being needs to restart their lives! The landscapes are beautiful. I experienced it walking from the starting point of Pueblo Bello (Cesar). I spent 7 and a half hours walking to Nabusimake. The path is difficult, but as you connect your body and soul with nature, you feel the strength to reach the end.
To enter the territory, you need a special permit signed by the Mamo, the highest authority of the Arhuacos. This territory belongs to them and is highly protected. They have a lot of order and restrictions that must be respected.
The treatment from the Arhuacos is very good. They are people with a lot of knowledge and expertise, and it's wonderful to talk to them and learn a little about their way of life. The place is safe, quiet, and has an indescribable peace.
I recommend this place to go with family or alone, and I recommend hiking up."
