What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Playa Blanca for its soft white sand, gentle waves ideal for families, and the unique experience of the Mantas-Blanca Tide Path during low tide. The underwater statue offers a fun snorkeling element. However, the lack of dedicated parking and the 'okay at best' on-site food are noted drawbacks, with many suggesting Jaco for more dining variety.
"This beach is wide with soft sand and good shade through the afternoon. There is no parking, which is a pain, but also means that the beach is hardly crowded. On the weekdays they were probably 50 to 100 people on the entire beach. The waves are great for playing with kids, and there is a little statue area underwater to explore with snorkels. There are fish to see, but visibility is not especially great. On the day we snore called, we could probably see 10 to 15 ft. There are lifeguards on duty, and they even roped off an area where sea turtles were hatching."

"Visited Playa Blanca and stayed in an air B&B at Elbambu. The swimming pools and little open air bars are lovely! Dancing Friday and Saturday nights."

"The rooms are nice and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The grounds are large and Playa Blanca is remarkable, very beautiful and comfortable to swim in, less rocky than most other beaches in country. However, the food on site is okay at best, and you are a decent drive from anything other than a few restaurants right outside the gate (a 3 km drive itself). Make sure you check a map if you are planning anything during your stay, as you are pretty far from anything other than Jaco."
