What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Laguna de Hule for its serene beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and natural volcanic landscapes. The free entry and the option for kayaking are highlights, though some note the gravel road requires careful driving and awareness of potential hazards like snakes. The on-site restaurant offers traditional food.
"Even though the place was already closed, a kind gentleman sold us drinks from the window and let us go downstairs to admire the lake. I was given a stick to tap on the path and watch out for snakes 😮 I don't know if he was trying to scare me, but it was fun."

"Not very touristy, you can drive to the beginning of the path, which is mostly in the forest. First you walk down about 100 meters on a fairly wide, rocky path to Lago Hule. After that you can continue to the other lakes. It took us a total of 3 hours including a picnic to get to Lago Hule. We recommend 4-5 hours for all three lakes. Entry free."

"The road is gravel, so any car can travel the route. I don't recommend going too fast due to skidding. There are two ways to enter the lake: through private property (at this point on Google Maps) or by following the road ahead and entering through the public area. Fishing is prohibited due to wildlife protection issues.
The restaurant offers traditional, healthy food for 7,500 pesos, with a buffet-style buffet for 13,000 pesos. The kayak tour is included, which costs 9,000 pesos on its own. As far as I understand, kayaks are not rented, only for the tour, which initially includes a short tour of three points with a guide, then you can paddle freely for 30 minutes.
For kayaking novices, avoid the area opposite the restaurant as there are strong currents and the wind is terrible. Depending on the weather, it can take up to 3 hours to get there and back."
