What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Playa Buena Vista is cherished as a secluded, local beach offering stunning sunsets and peaceful walks. While some find the water rocky and caution is advised during river crossings, its unspoiled beauty and community-maintained picnic areas make it a favorite for relaxation and family time.
"One of our favourite local beaches. This beach is somewhat secluded, but with fabulous views. It's not known for surfing. But more for fishing, walking, and family picnics.
The picnic tables are under plenty of shade trees. And well-maintained picnic tables are looked after by the local community. There's also a turtle sanctuary that can only be accessed from the beach. Fascinating place, but you need to call a head if you want to visit.
For me, the ultimate appeal of this beach is the ability to walk long distances in peace and quiet. Although I do see the occasional horse tour!
The locals also go to great lengths to pick up the garbage. So of you picnic, please take your trash home!"

"We didn’t see one other person during our visit. Although a dog befriended us as we walked from Samara and didn’t leave our side until we returned to town many hours later. Remote and pristine. About at the halfway point, there’s a grove of palm trees with a couple of shaded clearings in which to set up your blanket. The world could have ended and we’d be none the wiser. Note the river crossing from the parking area to the beach. Wear water shoes."

"Another unspoiled & beautiful, wide & long beach in the Samara area…great to explore during low tide. The current wasn’t too strong the day we went so we enjoyed playing in the waves. From the parking lot you can walk along the edge at low tide and cross the river to get to the beach. Be careful crossing the river & watch out for the rocks…water shoes are ideal. Playa Buena Vista is popular with locals & tourists alike for the sunsets. People start arriving a half hour before sunset and stay until after dark…there are mosquitoes. We went several times and the sunsets didn’t disappoint. Don’t forget your camera! We also saw some people fishing in the river. Treat this beach with respect and remember “no basura”!"
