What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Iglesia Católica Quepos for its beautiful architecture, heartwarming community, and welcoming priest. While the Mass is in Spanish, many find the experience uplifting and a genuine glimpse into local life. Some note that Google Maps can be misleading for directions, and services can run longer than expected.
"Beautiful open air church. Get there 40 minutes early for the rosary. Padre gave a thoughtful and thorough homily…so my wife told me…it’s a Spanish mass…obviously."

"Note: Google maps leads you to a building that looks to be abandoned. Until google updates the location, we recommend searching for “Iglesia Católica de Quepos” on Calle 5.
We visited this church while in Costa Rica for vacation from the U.S. It’s a very large church and looks like it’s been recently updated with some renovations. It was all beautiful: the church, the service, the community.
For Sunday Mass options there was a 9:00am Mass (which we attended) and a 6:00pm Mass. The service was lovely. It was a day for the community baptisms, so it was a bit longer than normal (or so we think)."
Jessica Stack
"Beautiful church in the heart of town. There was such a lovely sense of community; everyone seemed like family and they were respectful towards the Mass. Definitely different from the masses you would attend in Canada; the energy was heartwarming.
I would recommend budgeting more time than the standard “1hr” mass, and arriving a bit early…pura vida!"
