Things to do in Manuel Antonio and Quepas
Y’all, I’m at Manuel Antonio and just got back from the national park. After visiting La Fortuna and Monteverde, I found the national park very touristy. I have 2 more days here, and don’t know what else to do. I might go to the nayuca waterfalls tomorrow, which might be an all…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Playa La Macha is lauded for its stunning, secluded beauty and peaceful atmosphere, offering a rewarding escape for those willing to undertake the challenging hike. While the trek can be strenuous, especially the steep descent and uphill return, the pristine sands and lack of crowds make it a worthwhile destination for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility.
"The end of the hike is extremely steep with only 1 rope which is about 15 feet to go down maybe 100 ft drop off which is smooth dirt. I am sure the beach is amazing but our kids were not prepared for a serious climb. I would suggest if you have any mobility issues or kids under 10 to not attempt."

"After travelling for over a week on the pacific coast, I can say that this is the best beach we went. The place is quiet and beautiful, there’s a short hike that makes it feel like a reward, and if you bring food you can stay there all day and watch the sunset. Also perfect for swimming nude, it even had some “clothing optional” signs"

"Beautiful secluded beach. We were told it was nude-friendly although there weren’t any completely naked people here when we went. A bit of a hike to get there, so make sure you have comfortable hiking shoes, especially for the last part of the hike to the beach. From the sign in the picture, you can drive down a little farther (an SUV or vehicle with 4-wheel drive is recommended). There is a point on the trail where you can’t drive any farther. We did see a couple on a motorbike with wheels with good tread on them make it all the way to the point where the steep hike to the beach starts, but most people hike on foot the whole way. The hiking trail splits, so make sure you make a right to go to La Macha beach. Before going down the steep trail, there is a pathway on the left that has a nice overlook of the ocean. We accidentally went that way before going down the trail to the beach. You know you’re on the right trail when we see the ropes that help you get down to the beach. This part of the trail is VERY steep (flip flops not recommended). I was wearing Chacos the whole hike. Once you get down to the beach, enjoy the peace and calm. No vendors here. Every group we saw kept to themselves. If you want a quiet and secluded beach and don’t mind the hike to get there, this beach is definitely worth the trip. Make sure you have enough energy to climb back up the trail as it is pretty much all uphill. I would recommend packing at least water and a few snacks on your trip to and from this beach."
