The Blue Cave on Biševo Island is one of the most mesmerizing natural wonders of the Adriatic. Famous for its glowing blue light - created when sunlight reflects through an underwater opening - the cave is best experienced around midday. During high season (June 20 – September 10), the entrance ticket costs €24 per person, while in the off-season (April 1 – June 19 & September 11 – October 31), th...

‘The Blue Cave’ is a stunning sea cave located on the small Croatian island of Biševo, near the island of Vis. It’s mesmerizing blue light comes from the sun’s reflection off the limestone floor. This is a very popular tourist attraction in the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, alongside another blue cave near Island of Koločep. These are quite similar to the ‘Blue Grotto’ in Itally and Malta. . . . . ....

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Blue Cave's stunning, surreal blue glow as a unique natural wonder. The experience of entering the cave by small boat is described as magical. However, many find the 24 Euro price steep for the brief 5-10 minute visit, and long wait times, especially in peak season, are a common complaint.

"Blue cave is a must experience while it's still around. While the visit only lasts approximately ten minutes, it is absolutely worth it to see the beauty and to experience the history of the cave. There is no swimming or diving in the cave. You must stay in your tour boat. It's an opportunity to see nature at its best. Keep in mind that with time and erosion, the cave will eventually collapse and will close, permanently."

Stella Mouzouros

"Modra Špilja is truly one of nature’s masterpieces the electric-blue glow inside the cave is surreal and unforgettable. The experience of entering by small boat through the narrow entrance and seeing the water illuminated from beneath is nothing short of magical.

However, it’s worth noting that you can’t buy tickets in advance and on busy summer days, that means long wait times. We waited about an hour even though we arrived relatively early. The whole process is highly dependent on sea conditions too, so be prepared for possible delays or cancellations.

That said, the local guides are well organised and friendly. Once you’re inside the cave, you’ll understand why it’s worth the wait. Plan a full morning and bring water, a hat and some patience the payoff is stunning."

"Love the cave! Visit is only possible by taking the small boat at the cave entrance. Price is 24€ for 5 to 10 min boat ride. Would suggest to add at least one sail around the island to justify the price. However, it is spectatular and do not miss it if you are in the area! It can be very crowded and a long wait. Get there on a weekday early morning (7am) to avoid the wait."

📸 📸 Photography

Photography is generally allowed inside the Blue Cave, but it can be challenging due to the low light conditions and the movement of the boat. Capturing the unique blue glow requires a good camera or smartphone with excellent low-light capabilities. TikTok

While generally permitted, be mindful of the boat operator and other passengers. Avoid using flash, as it can detract from the natural glow and may be discouraged. TikTok
