What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Meštrović Crikvine-Kaštilac for its serene beauty, the impressive collection of wooden carvings in the chapel, and the picturesque coastal setting. The combined ticket with the Ivan Meštrović Gallery is seen as good value, though the frequent renovation of the gallery building means Crikvine often takes center stage. Some find parking limited and the walk from the main gallery a bit of a trek, but most agree the peaceful atmosphere and artistic merit make it a worthwhile visit.
"A very scenic location with pretty architecture (courtyard with columns) and flowering shrubs.
This was originally a 16th century summer home with a chapel.
The highlight here are Meštrović's carved wooden panels in the church. Only one sculpture in the courtyard.
Went during photographer Zoran Alajbeg's impeccable exhibition of Ivan Meštrović sculptures captured on film. Beautifully set up.
Must have a ticket which you can only get at the Ivan Meštrović Gallery, (one ticket to visit both locations) located down the road, about a 10 minute walk.
Haven't noticed a parking lot here, but there is a free parking lot at a nearby beach down a steep hill."

"The former church is included in the price of the visit to the Mestrovic gallery along the road. As the gallery building is closed for renovation, only allowing you to visit the garden, the church actually gives a better impression of the work of the artist. In this case, it is wooden panels carved to show scenes from the life of Christ, over a lengthy period of the artist's life and work. The setting is peaceful and the view over the coast is serene. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk from Diocletian's Palace, and you can walk back along the coast, making it a lovely adjunct from the historic visit"

"Quiet reflective beauty next door to Tito's old place. The former dictator not the eldest Jackson 5."
