Reviews Summary

Balvanida Bay is appreciated for its unique grotto and the intriguing, albeit chilly, waters. While the access road and rocky trail present a slight challenge, and the beach is small with limited shade, the presence of a nearby restaurant and its suitability for boats add to its appeal. Some visitors find nearby Plieski to be a nicer alternative.

"The road is privately owned so we parked our car further up to road and walked the remaining distance. The water was very chilly and the surface was blurry. We suspect there was a freshwater spring providing this phenomena. There is a cave further out in the bay which is easy to access by water, and a restaurant within walking distance. You can also access other beaches by foot (approximately 15 min walk)."

John Öberg

"I came down here largely because I really needed a cold drink from the restaurant after a hot bike ride and hike down. But the trail down is quite rocky and slippery and the actual beach is pretty, but small and has lots of urchins. No place to chill in the shade unless you want to set your towel up in what looks like a parking area of dirt. Plieski nearby is nicer."

Roy Pat

"Balvanida bay is a beautiful bay to anchor or rent a buoy. The bay has an interesting grotto (cave) to discover. It is an easy sail from Otok Losinj (about 5 Nm south on the west side)"
