Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Basílica del Cobre as a significant pilgrimage site and a place of deep spiritual importance, particularly for its venerated statue of Our Lady of Charity. The stunning panoramic views from the basilica are a major highlight, offering a beautiful contrast to the climb up the steps. While the basilica itself is well-maintained, some visitors note the persistence of vendors outside the premises.

"I must admit a lot of skepticism about the stories of this very special place in Cuban history. The Basílica or National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Charity del Cobre is a Roman Catholic minor basilica dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is located near Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. It is special because the Virgin serves as a Catholic national icon and is the Patroness of Cuba. It was build in 1926 in the village of El Cobre, approximately 12 miles west of Santiago de Cuba. There is a long stair flight from the village."

"Interesting Basilica which a place of pilgrimage for the Cuban.
The Virgen is adored all over the country and many people dream of visiting her."

"The basilica was beautiful painted and well manicure. It was very easy to get to vía taxi, attended on a Monday and it was very busy. Take enough time to read and take in the beautiful paintings and pictures on the walls. It is about 22 miles west of Santiago de Cuba. There are washroom on the building behind it and will cost u a cut/person."
