"It was an amazing experience walking through the forest area with the guide. The boatman did an amazing job explaining about the life of Pink Flamingos in the Lagoon."

"Interesting stop along through way to el nicho. This is a natural reserve comprising of mangrove wood along a large, but undeep, lake that is the place were flamingos like to stay to eat small crabs and scrimps.
After a short walk one reaches the border of the lake, we're we are boarding small manually paddled, boats to make 1 km trip over the water to observe the flamingos. It is quiet and very pleasant to make this ride.
Thereafter a small natur walk through the surrounding would to look for animals under guidance of a very capable and enthusiastic guide."

"No doubt the lake is very nice, but organizing a tour here was a disaster for us. We spent almost 2 hours waiting to finally start the tour (500m walk and then 40ish minutes on the lake supposedly). There's only a few boats, and we were unlucky that some 'government officials' came there to just skip the queue. Furthermore, we we're not allowed to wander from the entrance into the bit of forest, typical cuba where tourists need to be handheld everywhere. When it was finally our turn, after walking the whole 500 meters to the lake, it became apparent that we couldn't actually go with the boats as one of the boats making a previous trip had an issue, they are some small cheap looking boats. Luckily, we were offered a refund, and after speaking to the guide a bit more, he felt very sorry. He offered us to walk around a bit more to show the birdlife, which was much appreciated, which was why we came. He was very knowledgeable. Others in our group left without seeing anything. (You have to group up at the entrance."
